Sri Cempaka dominated the first half of the match with overwhelming possession. S&R formidable defense allowed the opponent to penetrate easily with decent chances. Unfortunately for S&R, Cempaka broke the deadlock at the 23rd minute making the score 1 - 0. The keeper had no chance as the ball was heading for the far right corner of the post. Players from both sides brought the tempo to a whole new level with a repertoire of sliding tackles and tactical passes till half time. Half time was the key to revival as S&R re-organized their formation with Henry's Hourglass suggestion (4-2-1-3).

The second half was a counterpart of the first as S&R players started taking a more offensive approach to score goals. During 64th minute, Jovy had a chance to grab the equalizer but his attempt was in vain as the ball headed straight for the goalkeeper. In 73rd minute, Jeremy engaged himself in a controversial challenge where he was supposingly elbowed from the back. Questions as to whether a penalty should be given was unheeded; however, match officials claimed that the challenge was legal and that the game should continue as it is (This sentence is crap HAHAHA)l. Towards the climax of the game, Meng wai completed his teams revival by lobbing the ball over the goalkeeper at the 82nd minute. Instantaneously, the game became a struggle for supremacy. The game ended 1 - 1.
